July 18, 2017 Engineering TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH JEFF KATZ ARCHITECTURE IN THE AMOUNT OF $468,000 TO DESIGN AND ASSIST WITH CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT OF THE FIRE STATION THREE REPLACEMENT PROJECT, CIP NO. 17423 SUMMARY Fire Station Three, located at the intersection of West Las Positas Boulevard and Santa Rita Road was built in 1973 and has been in service ever since. In 2016 a study was performed to determine if the building could be renovated or remodeled to continue to meet the needs of the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department, or if the building has reached the end of its useful life and requires replacement. The study assessed the physical condition of the building, as well as the demands on the building by the Fire Department both today and into the foreseeable future. The study determined the fire station building was beyond renovation and should be replaced, and went on to develop a concept design along with a design and construction cost estimate for the concept design. In total, including design and construction, the cost was estimated to be approximately$4.1 million. This amount is budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program under CIP project number 17423. The proposed professional services agreement with Jeff Katz Architecture (JKA) in the amount of $468,000 is to design and assist with construction management of a new Fire Station Three. Through a competitive Request for Qualification (RFQ) process, JKA was selected as the most qualified consultant to assist the City of Pleasanton on this project. RECOMMENDATION 1. Approve the attached professional services agreement with Jeff Katz Architecture in the amount of$468,000 to design and assist with construction administration of a new Fire Station Three. 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the professional services agreement with JKA in the amount of $468,000. FINANCIAL STATEMENT There is $4,085,000 currently budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget for this project: Fire Station Three Replacement Project, CIP No. 17423.
