4.1 Exterior Walls: <br /> <br />Encouraged: Cement plaster, stone or brick masonry, cast concrete, shaped <br />plaster, and tile. Dimensional lumber siding is allowed but requires adequate <br />painting, staining, preservation and maintenance to insure against uneven <br />weathering or severe checking and/or splitting. Synthetic materials made from <br />recycled product, e.g., Hardi-Plank cementitious board siding are encouraged if <br />a high quality appearance is achieved. Sheet siding such as plywood or maso- <br />nite may be allowed, but must be used in conjunction with sufficient masonry <br />and trim accents to maintain an overall high quality appearance. <br /> <br />Discouraged: False fiber board stucco, metal siding, vinyl siding, unfin- <br />ished wood, exposed plain concrete block, and flat sheet siding such as ply- <br />wood or masonite. <br /> <br />4.2 Roofs: <br /> <br />· Encouraged: Barrel and flat terra cotta clay tile, flat integral color concrete <br /> tile, slate, and high quality composition shingles. <br /> <br />Discouraged: Sheet roofing, metal roofing, synthetic wood shakes or shin- <br />gles, high glazed clay tile or glossy painted concrete tile, or fiberglass or hard- <br />board shingles. <br /> <br />4.3 Windows and Skylights: <br /> <br />Encouraged: Clear or tinted glass, dark anodized or painted frames, wood <br />frames, flat clear or tinted skylights integrated into the building architecture <br />and with frames that blend with the roof, and multi-paned windows used on all <br />sides of the structure. <br /> <br />· Discouraged: Reflective glazing and clear anodized, mill-finished alumi- <br /> num frames, or "bubble" skylights. <br /> <br />4.4 Colors: <br /> <br />The structure's color scheme should be compatible with but should not duplicate <br />the color schemes used on adjacent homes. <br /> <br />· Encouraged: Warm-toned colors. <br /> <br />· Discouraged: Stark white, bright pastels, pink, and/or bright intense primary <br /> colors in a large expanse, etc. Trim colors may deviate from this restriction. <br /> <br />PUD-27, Final CC Design Guidelines Page 4 of 8 September 2, 2003 <br /> <br /> <br />
