MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California March 14, 1966 THE CITY COUNCIL met in Regular Session at 7 :30 P.M. on the above date with Mayor Long presiding. ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long were present. Mr. Fales, City Manager; Mr. Struthers, City Attorney; Mr. Campbell, City Engineer; and Mrs. Woodward, City Clerk; were present. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor Long. APPROVAL OF MINUTES It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that the minutes of February 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th and December 20th be approved as corrected. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long NOES: None ABSENT: None MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL Mr. Daniel Pons asked if the Public Hearing scheduled on the agenda was the one for the Arroyo del Valle Parkway. Mr. Fales stated that it was for the extension of Vine Street. Mr. Pons stated that it was printed in The Times that it was the Arroyo del Valle. Mr. Fales explained that the public hearing scheduled for this meeting that was published in The Times was for the extension of Vine Street and not the Arroyo del Valle Parkway and any other article regarding this matter was in error. PUBLIC HEARINGS Amendment to Ord. No. 309 re: precise plan lines and plan line for new street north of Vineyard Ave. Mayor Long declared the public hearing on this matter, the extension of Vine Street, open. Mr. Fales read both the report of the Planning Commission and the Staff Report. Mr. Campbell displayed maps showing the extension of Vine Street that ran parallel to and north of Vineyard Ave., south of the Arroyo del Valle, east of First Street and terminated in a cul -de -sac. Mr. Joseph Vallarino, Vineyard Avenue, asked why Vine Street could not be ex- tended to First Street and Mr. Campbell explained that this would create a traffic hazard. Mr. Madden, of Vineyard Ave., asked who would pay for this street and Mr. Fales explained several methods by which the property owners could choose to pay for this. Mayor Long declared a recess at 8 :35 P.M. in order that the property owners involved could come to the council table to view the map. Mayor Long reconvened the meeting at 8:40 P.M. It was moved by Councilman Bubics and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that the Public Hearing be closed. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilman McWilliams introduced Ordinance No. 446, amending Ordinance No. 309, providing for the establishment of precise plan lines for future streets and street widenings. It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that the reading of Ordinance No. 446, be waived. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilman Harding introduced Ordinance No. 447, an ordinance establishing a specific plan line for a proposed new street to be established parallel to and north of Vineyard Avenue, south of the Arroyo del Valle and east of First Street.
