Pro•osed Joint Recreation Services Agreement• Elementar School District <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the changes in the above proposed agreement which included the <br />necessary additions regarding insurance. He stated that the agreement meets with <br />Dr. Haskell, Superintendent of Schools, who will recommend its execution by the <br />District School Board of Trustees. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that <br />Resolution No. 66 -22, authorizing the City Officers to sign the Joint Recreation <br />Services Agreement with the Pleasanton Elementary School District, be adopted. ' <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Survey Re: Compensation for City Councilmen <br />Mr. Fales read the report from the Director of Finance regarding compensation for <br />City Councilmen. <br />The Councilmen stated that at this time, the City of Pleasanton was not in a <br />financial position to compensate them for their time and work. <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br />Mr. Fales announced that the Pleasanton Womens Club dedicated the Kottinger <br />Village Park at 4:00 P.M. this date. <br />Mr. Fales advised the City Councilmen that the Recreation Commissioners will be <br />administered their oaths of office at 9:00 P.M. on February 15, 1966. <br />Mr. Fales read the agenda for the Pleasanton - Livermore City Council meeting to <br />be held at 6:30 P.M. on February 16th at Castlewood Country Club. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Mr. Fales read a letter dated February 7th, from Mr. John Burkhardt, President <br />of the Pleasanton Rotary Club, which stated that the Club is proposing a project to <br />construct signs at the major entrances to the City. <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Harding that the <br />Rotary Club's project of constructing signs at major entrances to the City be <br />approved in principle and the preliminary sign design be discussed with the Plan- <br />ning Commission prior to a formal application for approval. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. R. K. Johnson, District Engineer, Shell Oil <br />Company, exercising the right to appeal to the City Council the adverse decision <br />of the Planning Commission regarding the construction of a service station at the <br />southeast corner of First Street and Vineyard Avenue. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman Bubics that the <br />public hearing of the appeal of Shell Oil Company be set at 7:30 P.M. on February <br />28, 1966. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Gerton, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mr. Fales read a letter dated January 31, 1966, from William Penn Mott, Jr., <br />General Manager of the East Bay Regional Park District. Mr. Mott advised the City <br />Council that his district will begin immediately to study opportunities for re- <br />gional park acquisition in Pleasanton Township. He also advised that he will be <br />in contact with the school administrators to begin an Interpretive program and <br />asked for any suggestions or comments in order that efforts will reflect the needs <br />of the City of Pleasanton. <br />ORDINANCES FOR ADOPTION (second reading) <br />Ord. No. 440; Adopting 1964 Uniform Building Code <br />Ord. No. 441; Adopting 1964 Uniform Plumbing Code <br />Mr. Fales advised that the above ordinances will not be ready for adoption until <br />they have been published twice. Mr. Fales stated that these ordinances will be <br />scheduled for adoption on February 28th. <br />APPROVAL OF CLAIMS: REVIEW OF FINANCIAL REPORTS <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Gerton that <br />claims in the amount of $34,817.93 be paid as presented. <br />2. <br />
