MINUTES <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Pleasanton, California <br />January 25, 1965 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in Regular Session at 8:00 P.M. on the above date with Mayor <br />Long presiding. <br />ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen <br />Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long were present. Councilmen Bubics and Cairo <br />were absent. 4dr. Fates, City Manager, Mr. Struthers, City Attorney, Mr Campbell, <br />City Engineer and Mrs. Woodward, City Clerk were present. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO 1'tiE FLAG was led by Mayor Long. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THH; COUNCIL <br />Discussion of January 18th public hearing regarding the Job Corps. <br />Mayor Long stated that the Job Coprs Center will be located at Camp Parks as was <br />announced last week. Mr. Fales reported that he had received letters from <br />Mrs. C.W. Crabb, Mrs. Ward Miller and telephone calls from others, asking that <br />their names be removed from the lists opposing the Job Corps and placed on lists <br />for the Job Corps. Mr. Fales read letters from Mr. James Trimingham, Dr. Ray <br />Haskell and Mr. Neal Sweeney which stated their support of the Job Corps. <br />Mrs. Betty Rider stated that she and a group of others had gone to Governor Brown's <br />office in Sacramento regarding this matter. <br />Mr. Wallace Decker, 763 Bonde Court stated that he considered he had been <br />intellectually violated by the method in which the decision to locate a Job Corps <br />Center at Camp Parks had been made and wished this statement to become a public <br />record. <br />Mr. Charles Miller, Mr. Ballard expressed opposition to the Job Corps being located <br />at Camp Parks. <br />Dr. Ray Haskell and Mr. Close both spoke in defense of the Job Corps. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that the <br />mayor be authorized to make a statement to the press recognizing the Job Corps <br />Center at Camp Parks and expressing community feeling with regard to the method <br />in which the site was selected. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen McWilliams, Harding and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Cairo <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS were not scheduled for this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />Report of the Planning Commission Re: Application of the Planning Commission for <br />Certain Amendments to Article 14 (Industrial Park District Ordinance No. 309 <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the report of the Planning Commission and recommended that the <br />public hearing be held on February 8th, 1965. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that <br />the public hearing on the Application of the Planning Commission for certain <br />amendments to Article 14 (Industrial Park District), Ordinance No. 309, be held <br />on February 8th at 8:00 P.M. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Bubics and Cairo <br />
