1 <br />1 <br />MINUTES <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Pleasanton, California <br />January 18, 1965 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in adjourned regular session at 8 :00 P.M. on the above date in <br />the Amador High School Auditorium with Mayor Long presiding. <br />ROLL CAL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics, <br />Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long present. Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. <br />Struthers, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, City Engineer and Mrs. Woodward, City Clerk <br />were present. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor Long. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL. No one addressed <br />the chair. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Possible Location of a Federal Job Corps Center at Camp Parks <br />Mayor Long introduced Mr. John Carley, Special Assistant to the Job Corps Director. <br />Mr. Carley spoke on the purpose of the Job Corps and why Camp Parks was selected. <br />He also answered questions directed from the audience regarding this matter. <br />Mayor Long stated that the City Council specifically invited Litton Industries to be <br />present at this meeting in order to explain their organization, reasons for interest <br />in the Job Corps and the specific program proposed for Camp Parks. Mayor Long then <br />introduced Dr. William Jacobi, head of Litton's Division of Economic Department. <br />Litton Industries showed a film which covered some of their industries' range of act- <br />ivities in 22 countries, 139 plants with employment of almost 60,000 people, of which <br />18,000 were trained by Litton Industries for jobs they now hold. After the film Dr. <br />Jacobi answered questions directed from the audience. Dr. Jacobi introduced Dr. Uslat <br />and other members of their staff, each of whom explained a part of the trd Ing system. <br />After questions had been asked and answered, it was moved by Mayor Long and seconded <br />by Councilman Cairo that the Public Hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mayor Long recessed the meeting at 11 :30 P.M. <br />Mayor Long reconvened the meeting at 11 :50 P.M. Mayor Long asked for an informal <br />show of hands from the audience regarding their favor or disfavor of the proposed <br />Job Corps center at Camp Parks. <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />pott of the Plannina_Commission re: Application of the Planning Commission for <br />certain amendments to Article 14 Industrial Park District Ord. No. 309. <br />This matter was posponed until January 25th. <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />The following matters were posponed until January 25th. 1955 Gasoline Contract Annex- <br />ation No. 38- St.nnlajlvd. Annex "B" Purchase of State Forest <br />Fire Truck. <br />Matters For the Ir :for.nai:ian of the Council vewe not presented at t;hic reeting <br />:Temporary Transfer of Funds- Assessment District No. 63-1 <br />Mr. Fales explained that due to the time lag involved between the collection of asses <br />ments by the County and disbursement of these funds to the City, the A.D. #63 -1 Bond <br />Redemption Fund is currently lacking $7,000.00 which is due and payable on bond coup- <br />ons. Mr. Fales recommended that a temporary transfer of $7,000.00 be made from the <br />Alameda County Gas Tax Fund to the A.D. #,63 -1 Redemption Fund, said monies to be re- <br />paid to the Gas Tax Fund as soon as the assessment district payments are received from <br />Alameda County, which should be approximately February 1, 1965. <br />It was moved by Councilman Cairo and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that Resolution. <br />No. 65 -7, granting authorization to temporarily transfer $7,000.00 from the Alameda <br />County-Gas Tax Fund to the Assessment District No. 63 -1 Bond and Coupon Redemption <br />Fund with reimbursement due upon receipt of Assessment District Funds due from Alamedt <br />County, be adopted. <br />
