MINUTES <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Pleasanton, California <br />March 22, 1965 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in Regular Session at 8:00 P.M. on the above date with Mayor <br />Long presiding. <br />ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics, <br />Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long were present. Mr. Fales, City Manager, <br />Mr. Struthers, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, City Engineer and Mrs. Woodward, City <br />Clerk were present. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor Long. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL <br />Officer Anthony Ragone, president of the Pleasanton Police Association, presented the <br />City Council with a new gavel and striking block. <br />It was moved by Councilman Cairo and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that Resolutic:. <br />No. 65 -49, expressing appreciation for the gavel and striking block to the Pleasanton <br />Police Association, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mr. Paul Loretz wished to express appreciation to all who worked on the Wayside Park <br />project on First Street. He stated that benches were very much needed in this park. <br />Councilman Harding stated that this was a good suggestion. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS were not scheduled for this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS were not presented at this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />C.M. Report No. 47; Use of Women's Improvement Club Building as Interim City Council <br />Chambers <br />Mr. Fales read his report No. 47 in which he recommended that the Women's Club Build- <br />ing be utilized on a trial basis for the month of April. <br />Mayor Long suggested that the trial period be dispensed with and the offer from the <br />Women's Club to use. their Club Building as an interim City Council Chambers be ac- <br />cepted. Mayor Long instructed Mr. Fales to prepare a letter thanking the Women's <br />Club for the use of their building. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman Bubics that Resolution <br />No. 65 -50, designating the Women's Club Building commencing April 5, 1964 as the <br />meeting place for City Council and other City Public Meetings, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Cairo Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mr. Struthers advised Mayor Long that Resolution Nos. 65 -43, 65 -44 and 65 -45 would <br />each require an amendment as the published fixed place of public hearings on respect- <br />ive annexation Nos. 36, 38, and 39 wan at the Council Chambers at the City Hall. <br />It was moved by Councilman Cairo and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that Resolutio; <br />No. 65 -51, amending Resolution No. 65 -43 changing the place of public hearing on <br />Annexation No. 36, Pleasanton -Sunol Annex "E to s:he Women's Club Building, Vineyard <br />Ave. and Regalia Ave., be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and se ^onded by Councilman Bubics that Resoluti <br />ion No. 65 -52, amending Reeolution No. 65 -44 changing the place of the public hearing <br />on Annexation No. 38, Stanley Boulevard, Annex "B to the Women's Club Building, <br />Vineyard and Regalia Avenue, be adopted. <br />
