<br />March 1, 1965
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in Adjourned Regular Session at 8 :00 P.M. on the above date
<br />with Mayor Long presiding.
<br />ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics,
<br />Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long were present. Councilman Cairo was absent. Mr.
<br />Fales, City Manager, Mr. Struthers, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, City Engineer and
<br />Mrs. Woodward, City Clerk were present.
<br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor Long.
<br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL. No one addressed
<br />the Chair.
<br />PUBLIC HEARINGS were not scheduled for this meeting.
<br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
<br />Report of the Planning Commission re: New Pleasanton Area General Plan; Items\Re-
<br />ferred by City Council on February 23, 1965.
<br />Mr. Fales presented the report of the Planning Commission, dated February 26th,
<br />regarding the items referred by the City Council, which are listed as follows:
<br />Commercial Areas
<br />1. The Commission, by resolution, recommends that the language in the Proposed
<br />General Plan, dated November 5, 1964, which refers to Neighborhood Shopping Centers
<br />be changed with reference to their size, from "4 to 6 acres" to "5 to 8 acres and
<br />further, that language referring to a general limitation as to the total floor area
<br />involved be added, to wit: The total usable floor area of such centers should be
<br />from 50,000 to 80,000 square feet as a general rule.
<br />2. The Commission, by resolution, recommends that the land use designation for the
<br />area east of First Street between Vineyard and Kottinger Avenue remain as "High
<br />Density multiple family residential, as indicated on the Proposed General Plan,
<br />dated November 5, 1964.
<br />Industrial Areas
<br />3. The Commission, by resolution, recommends that the General Electric Vallecitos
<br />Laboratory be designated as "Limited Industrial" for the majority of the site, but
<br />with an abstract -type circle inserted on the site indicating some "General Indust-
<br />rial" use.
<br />Community Facilities
<br />4. The Commission, by resolution, recommends that the high school site indicated
<br />on the Proposed General Plan, dated November 5, 1964, as located immediately north-
<br />west of the Pine Avenue -Route 680 interchange be changed to a location immediately
<br />southwest of the same interchange and further, that the Neighborhood Shopping Center
<br />and Highway Commercial area indicated on the Proposed General Plan, dated Nov. 5,
<br />1964, as located immediately southwest of the Pine Avenue -Route 680 interchange be
<br />removed from the General Plan as adopted by the City Council.
<br />5. The Commission by resolution, recommends addition of a 2 acre park site in Tract
<br />No. 2591 adjacent to Harvest Road, as indicated on the Subdivision Map.
<br />Circulation
<br />6. The Commission, by resolution, recommends that the Del Valle Parkway be relocated
<br />from its position on the Proposed General Plan, dated November 5, 1964, between
<br />First Street and Pico Avenue, to a location north, rather than south, of the Arroyo
<br />del Valle, with a bridge indicated near the intersection of the Del Valle Parkway and
<br />Pico Avenue.
<br />7. The Commission recommends, by resolution that the previous Commission recommend-
<br />ation of January 27, 1965, as embodied in the report to the City Council dated Jan-
<br />uary 29, 1965, regarding the location of the Pine Avenue interchange with Route 680,
<br />be rescided; and that the Commission now recommends that the location of Pine Ave.
<br />and the Pine Avenue interchange with Route 680 remain as indicated on the Proposed
<br />General Plan, dated November 5, 1964.
