After considerable discussion, it was moved Councilman Bubics and seconded by <br />Councilman McWilliams that the.Public Hearing be closed: <br />The roll call vote't oll <br />7 as.as:.fows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams.and seconded by Councilman Bubics that Res- <br />olution No 65- 32 the Planning Commission, to consider the following <br />proposed changes which differ from either the Proposed General Plan, dated November <br />5, 1964 or the General Plan as recommended by the Planning Commission, dated January <br />29, 1965 and report•their findings to the City Council, be adopted. <br />1) Commercial Areas: In the text of the plan provide that neighborhood shop- <br />ping Centers shall be from 5 to 8 acres with a maximum of 60,000 sq. ft. <br />of usable inside building space. <br />2) Commercial Areas: The easterly side of First Street between Kottinger <br />Ave. and Vineyard Avenue, the depth of the existing lots, be changed from <br />"High Density" residential to Commercial. <br />3) Industrial Areas: A circular area be inserted in the center of the General <br />Electric Vallecitos Laboratory with the circle marked "General <br />Industrial" to conform with certain manufacturing processes presently <br />carried on in the limited industrial area, but with the remainder of the <br />site left as "Limited Industrial <br />4) Commmunity Facilities: Relocate the proposed high school near the Pine <br />Ave. interchange to the southwesterly side of the proposed Pine Avenue <br />extension and interchange and delete the neighborhood shopping area shown <br />at that location. <br />5) Community Facilities: Include a 2 acre park site in Tract 2591 (Pleasanton <br />Valley) between Black Avenue and the Arroyo del Valle. <br />6) Circulation: On Interstate 680 freeway, locate.Pine Avenue interchange <br />approximately 300 ft. north of Arroyo Mocho, with that being the only <br />interchange between Interstate Route 580 and Bernal Avenue,, <br />7) Circulation: Move the proposed Del Valle Parkway northerly of Arroyo del <br />Valle as it extends easterly from First Street to Pico Avenue extension. <br />8) Circulation: More precisely locate the <br />Pico Avenue, in relation to the contour <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding, McWilliams <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br />southerly extension of proposed <br />of land near Sycamore Road. <br />and Mayor Long <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. Harrison Cutter, Chief of Racing, Spring Fair, <br />State Fairgrounds, Sacramento extending an invitation to the Councilmen and City <br />Manager to attend the Quarter Horse Race meet to be held at the State Fairgrounds in <br />Sacramento on March 26th. The letter also stated that it had been suggested by Mr. <br />James Trimingham, Secretary Manager of the Alameda County Fair, that this day be <br />named the City of Pleasanton Day instead of the Alameda County Fair Day. <br />Communication <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. Arthur Plato, acting chairman of the Downtown <br />Merchants Committee stating that the downtown merchants and property owners have <br />formed a committee to consider what constructive action might be taken by the local <br />merchants to work with the City in improving the downtown section. <br />Mr. Fales read a letter dated February 17, 1965, from Mr. Robert S. Ash, Executive <br />Secretary of the Central Labor Council of Alameda County, notifying the City of <br />Pleasanton that the Central Labor Council will not approve any program under the <br />Manpower Development and Training Act, the Economic Opportunities Act, or any <br />other governmental program unless they are consulted with during the process of <br />adopting the program and are asked to approve or disapproved the program prior to it <br />submission to any governmental agency. <br />Mr. Fales read a letter dated February 4, 1965, from Mr. Carl Nipper requesting <br />that the City of Pleasanton together with P.T.C.W.D. perform an investigation to <br />determinethe optimum facility for collection and treatment of sewage to serve the <br />area within the Rohn and Nipper ranches and other areas to be south and west of the <br />City. <br />
