Mr. Fales read a 1.i:i:ar ateI January 25th, <br />intended to write to :air. Ray Haskell asking <br />the State to provide side walks in front of <br />and her husband, a civil engineer, would be <br />situation :throughout the City of Pleasanton <br />from Mrs.. Ernest Syl1es indicating that she <br />what. tha citizens can do to convince <br />school property. She also stated that she <br />willing to make a survey of the sidewalk <br />Mr. Fales :stated that this is a extremely time consuming project as calculations had <br />to be accurate. He stated that should a sidewalk assessment district be established, <br />this would involve a considerable amount of rime as every property owner would have <br />to be contacted. After lengthy discussion it was decided to consider a one street <br />iilot project when requests are initiated by the citizens. Mr. Fales stated that he <br />would write a letter thanking Mrs. Sykes for her offer and explaining the side- <br />walk situation in general. <br />Mr. Fales read a letter, dated February 2, 1965, from the Chamber of Commerce, <br />signed by John J. Amaral, and their resolution No. 108, dated January 29, 1965 <br />pledging support of the proton acceterator being installed by the AEC at Camp Parks. <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Bubics that Resolut- <br />ion No. 65 -25, stating that the City Council go on record as being in favor of the <br />Proton Accelerator to be installed by AEC, at Camp Parks and offering support and <br />assisstance to this project, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br />ORDINANCES FOR ADOPTION (second reading) were not scheduled for this meeting. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />Councilman Bubics remarked about the roof on Women's Improvement Club Bldg. which <br />was badly in need of repair. Mr. Fales advised that the roof had been repaired this <br />date. <br />Mayor Long asked if a community -type committee on Juvenile Delinquents had been forme( <br />Mr. Fales advised him that he has received a report from the Chief of Police. He <br />stated that he has met with the Chief of Police and Judge Gale and it was decided <br />upon to meet again next week and include the Alameda County Sherriff's office, and <br />school officials. This meeting is being held in order to include suggestions from <br />each group involved with Juvenile Delinquents. Mr. Fales stated that subsequent to <br />this meeting a report will be prepared and presented to the Council within the next <br />two wbeks. <br />Mayor Long asked if a liaison committee for the Job corps has been initiated. Mr. <br />Fales stated that he has had some informal discussions with Litton Industries per- <br />sonnel and as soon as they are established in this area they would like to meet for <br />the specific purpose of forming such a committee. <br />APPROVAL OF CLAIMS: REVIEW OF FINANCIAL REPORTS <br />It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Harding that Claims <br />warrant Nos. C -67 to AD 6q-2 No. 15 in amount of $20,042.46 be approved for payment <br />as presented. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br />There being no further business, Mayor Long adjourned the meeting at 10 :15 P.M. to <br />meet again in adjourned regular session at 8:00 P.M. on February 15, 1965. <br />Respectfully submitted <br />Helen Woodward, City Clerk <br />
