CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 819 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 4 (BICYCLES), CHAPTER 2 <br /> (SPECIAL PERMITS), TITLE IV (HEALTH, SAFETY, MORAL AND <br /> GENERAL WELFARE). <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State of California has adopted a state-wide system <br /> of bicycle registration and licensing; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all cities with bicycle ordinances are required to use <br /> the state licensing and registration system; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Pleasanton's bicycle ordinance is at variance with some <br /> sections of the bicycle licensing program. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON HEREBY <br /> ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Article 4 of Chapter 2 (Special Permits), Title IV <br /> (Health, Safety, Moral and General Welfare) regarding <br /> bicycles, is hereby amended in its entirety to read as <br /> follows: <br /> <br /> Article 4 <br /> <br /> Bicycles <br /> <br /> Sec. 4-2.38 Incorporation of State Law. The licensing require- <br /> ments contained herein are established pursuant to <br /> California Vehicle Code, Division 16.7, Sections 39000 <br /> and following. All definitions, procedures and require- <br /> ments set forth in Division 16.7 are incorporated herein <br /> by reference. <br /> <br /> Sec. 4-2.39 License Required. It shall be unlawful for any <br /> resident of the City of Pleasanton to operate a bicycle <br /> or motorized bicycle upon any street, road, highway <br /> or other public place within the City of Pleasanton, <br /> without having registered such bicycle, received a <br /> license from the City of Pleasanton and kept said license <br /> current and valid. <br /> <br /> Sec. 4-2.40 Forms and Fees. The City shall issue and renew <br /> all bicycle licenses. The City shall provide to the <br /> residents of the City all license and renewal indicia <br /> and all forms needed to comply with this article and <br /> State law. <br /> <br />-- The City shall establish fees for the following procedures: <br /> initial licensing, renewal, transfer of ownership, change <br /> of address, duplication of license and duplication of <br /> <br /> <br />
