CIVIC ARTS <br /> . <br /> / <br /> THE CITY OF PLEASANTON IS SEARCHING FOR A CREATIVE <br /> CANDIDATE TO BE A LITERARY ARTS AMBASSADOR! <br /> Are you a creative Pleasanton resident who would like to enhance and encourage the appreciation of <br /> the literary arts in your community? If so, now is your chance to apply for the honorary post of the City of <br /> Pleasanton's first Literary Arts Ambassador. This honorary position has been developed with a mission to <br /> raise awareness of the importance of literature as it relates to lifelong literacy and education toward the <br /> development and enhancement of the lives of Pleasanton's residents. The Literary Arts Ambassador may <br /> share appropriate poetry and/or literary pieces at public events and dedications, as well as conducting literary <br /> workshops, readings, and/or events. One of the program's goals is to have this position be supportive and <br /> mentor the City's current Teen Literary Arts Program. Though the position is not compensated, a limited <br /> program budget and administrative support is provided. The two (2) year term begins September 2017, and <br /> concludes in June 2019. Applications will be accepted through May 1,2017. <br /> To Qualify You Must: <br /> * Be a Pleasanton resident 18+years <br /> * Be a writer, illustrator or poet <br /> * Be a leader with experience in promoting literature <br /> * Possess excellent communication skills <br /> * Possess a dynamic, engaging personality <br /> To Apply, You Must Submit, in hard copy: <br /> * Four original writings <br /> * A one-page letter of interest which includes a brief outline of your <br /> vision for possible projects or activities during your tenure <br /> * A letter of support from two writers <br /> * A resume indicating active participation in promoting the literary <br /> arts in our community <br /> Selected finalists will be invited to present their writings and vision to a Selection Committee which will <br /> make a recommendation to the Civic Arts Commission.
