FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAINTENANCE AND EMERGENCY REPAIR <br /> SERVICES <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City operates 118 traffic signals within the City of Pleasanton. Routine maintenance <br /> and emergency repair of these signals is performed by an outside contractor. Staff <br /> solicited proposals for a traffic signal maintenance contract and received five proposals, <br /> with Cal-West Lighting and Signal Maintenance, Inc. submitting the lowest qualified <br /> proposal for a monthly rate of $125 per traffic signal and $65 per Beacon/In-Pavement <br /> Lights. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Review the proposals and award the traffic signal maintenance contract to Cal-West <br /> Lighting and Signal Maintenance Inc. for a monthly rate of$125 per traffic signal and <br /> $65 per Beacon/In-Pavement Lights. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above maintenance contract. <br /> 3. Authorize the Director of Community Development to review and approve future <br /> contract extensions per the provisions of the contract. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The majority of funding for traffic signal maintenance is included in the Traffic <br /> Engineering Division's operating budget. The Hacienda Business Park Owners' <br /> Association is responsible for the maintenance costs of 29 signals ($43,500 per year), <br /> and Caltrans is responsible for half of the cost for intersection signals at freeway ramps <br /> ($9,000 per year). <br />
