Commissioner Pearce asked about funding received for the programs from the Civic Arts <br /> Commission. Ms. Bridges provided information and advised that adjustments to the program <br /> would need to be made should funding not be received. <br /> Commissioner Chew questioned whether the Cheza Nami program had been presented in all of <br /> the middle schools and how many schools the symphony had been to. <br /> Ms. Case provided information about two sisters that had participated in a Cheza Nami Diversity <br /> Camp and how the camp fills a gap and provides an opportunity for students receive enrichment <br /> and a free lunch. She asked the Commission to consider the community at large when making <br /> their funding recommendations. <br /> Kelly O'Lague Dulka, Tri-Valley YMCA/Allowing Kids with Special Needs to Thrive a t Y-Camp / <br /> Focusing on the Whole' Child Social Emotional Learning / Inspiring-Future Careers with STEM <br /> Activities — discussed social and emotional learning programs that touch social skills and the <br /> need to address issues early so children are not struggling with these problems. Ms. Dulka <br /> provided information about the Y-Camp program for children with special needs and the After <br /> School programs that are provided by the YMCA for low-income families. <br /> Commissioner Allari discussed the Whole Child Program with Ms. Dulka who also provided <br /> information on where the program is provided and how the funding would be used. <br /> Commissioner Shotland questioned about programs being only for children or whether parents <br /> could participate. <br /> Jessie Wathen, Tri-Valley Haven / Anti-Bullying Project / Healthy Relationships Program — <br /> commented on the Healthy Relationships program being provided in 7th and 9th grade students <br /> and provided information about the focus of the program. Ms. Wathen then provided information <br /> about Anti-Bullying program. She advised that all programs are age appropriate and the Tri- <br /> Valley haven has received good feedback from both high and middle school students. <br /> Commissioner Allari discussed with Ms. Wathen having the Anti-Bullying program work into the <br /> Unity Week Program that this Commission is working on. <br /> Chairperson Rigl closed the meeting for presentations at 7:18 p.m. and a 10-minute break <br /> was taken. <br /> On resuming the meeting the Commission received a revised request from Center for <br /> Community Dispute Settlement reducing their funding request from $1,500 to $300. <br /> Commissioners agreed to conduct a roundtable allocation for each of the funding requests and <br /> total the average for each to determine their overall total.
