A motion was made by Commissioner Chew, and seconded by Commissioner Allari, to approve <br /> the February 8, 2017 meeting minutes as corrected. The motion was approved unanimously. <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> 2. Introductions/Awards/Recognitions/Presentations <br /> None. <br /> 3. Public Comment from the audience regarding items not listed on the agenda <br /> None. <br /> MATTERS BEFORE THE COMMISSION <br /> 4. Recommendations to Allocate Community Grant Funds in the Youth Category for, <br /> Fiscal Year 2017/18 <br /> Mr. Patrick provided information about the Community Grant Funds Program and advised that a <br /> total of sixteen (16) applications had been received in the Youth Category totaling $92,010 in <br /> requested funding. He advised the Commission that a total of $40,000 was available in the FY <br /> 2017/18 Operating Budget for the Youth Category with an additional $1,456 in unspent funds <br /> from FY 2016/17. <br /> The Commission was asked to review and discuss the sixteen (16) Community Grant <br /> applications received in the Youth Category, consider the recommendations made by staff and <br /> make modifications as needed. Mr. Patrick provided information about the tentative Youth <br /> Commission funding recommendations realized from ZoomGrants and the Olympic Average <br /> recommendation. <br /> Chairperson Rigl opened the meeting for presentations at 6:12 p.m. <br /> Tonva Clennv — Center for Community Dispute Settlement / Tri Valley Youth Court — advised <br /> that funding was being requested a youth volunteer program that meets two of the Youth Master <br /> Plan criteria. She provided information about a youth core program that is an ongoing program <br /> for youth volunteers. Funding requested would be used to provide a stipend for a teacher and <br /> gift cards for volunteers attending the program. <br /> Commissioner Pearce asked for confirmation that the funding requested would be for the <br /> purchase of gift cards. Ms. Clenny advised that $300 would be for a life Choice teacher stipend <br /> and the remainder for$5 gift cards. <br /> Mr. Patrick noted that funding could not be provided for items unrelated to the program. <br /> Youth Commission Minutes <br /> March 8,2017 <br /> Page 2 <br />
