CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 811 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ADDING ARTICLE 3 TO CHAPTER 3 <br /> (BUILDING CODE), TITLE II (ZONING AND DE- <br /> VELOPMENT) OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY <br /> OF PLEASANTON RELATING TO SECURITY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Health and Safety Code in the State of <br />California at Section 17922, requires that local agencies shall <br />impose substantially the same requirements as contained in the <br />Uniform Building Code of the International Conference of Build- <br />ing Officials; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code, Section 17958, requires <br />adoption of requirements imposed by the Uniform Building Code; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code, Section 17958.5, per- <br />mits a city or oountyto make such changes or modifications in <br />the requirements contained in the Uniform Building Code "as it <br />determines are reasonably necessary because of local conditions"; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code, Section 17958.7, re- <br />quires that the city or county "shall make an express finding <br />that such modifications or changes are needed" and shall file <br />that finding along with the regulation as a public record with <br />the Department of Housing and Community Development; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton finds that in order to <br />provide reasonable protection from unlawful entry to new and en- <br />larged buildings in the City of Pleasanton, it is necessary to <br />adopt the following security ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton believes and finds that <br />there are local conditions that make it reasonably necessary to <br />adopt this ordinance. <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS <br /> <br />Sectionl. That there are certain local conditions that neces- <br />sitate the amending of the Uniform Building Code to provide for <br />reasonable protection from unlawful entry. Said conditions re- <br />late to the geography and topography of the City and are set <br />forth in Section 2-12.75 (a) through (e) of the amended Article <br />3, Chapter 3, Title II. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton be <br />amended by renumbering Article 3 (Survey and Site Plan with Ap- <br />plication for Building Permits) of Chapter 3, Title II as Article <br />4, Chapter 3, Title II. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is <br /> further amended by adding new Article 3, relating to Security, to <br /> Chapter 3, Title II to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Article 3 <br /> <br /> Security <br /> <br /> ~2-12.75 Purpose and Findings. In order to provide <br /> reasonable protection from unlawful entry to new <br /> and enlarged buildings in the City of Pleasanton, <br /> this article requires the use of certain types of <br /> locks and other security hardware and establishes <br /> certain minimum construction standards.
