Conclusion
The Owens Drive lane modification was made deliberately, with significant community
input and was based on sound data, with the comfort and convenience of all road users
in mind. The recent modifications to the Iron Horse Trail crossing at Owens Drive should
alleviate some of the vehicle delays some drivers are experiencing during one or two
traffic light signals during the PM peak hour. These drivers may continue to experience
the 20 or so second delay that was anticipated when this project was originally
contemplated.
In the meantime, the 200 pedestrians and bicyclists using the Iron Horse Trail to get to
BART are doing so with a safer system, and those network users are not causing
vehicle congestion and air pollution in and around the station. Staff recommends that
the City Council accept this report, and provide any direction that may be appropriate.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approve by:
Gerry Beaudin Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
