I live at 100 Neal St-right
on the corner of First and Neal Street- and have been there for 34 years. We have witnessed
tremendous growth in the years we have lived in Pleasanton and are proud to be part of our
downtown community.
Many of the changes we have seen in Pleasanton have been positive but the accompanying traffic is
maddening. Because we live on a main thoroughfare, we have seen alarming increases in traffic. For
those of us living on or near First Street, the access to our own homes has been frightfully affected.
Just trying to get out of our driveways is challenging and at times, downright dangerous.
I am not in favor of the attitude that "I've got mine but I don't want you to get yours" but at what point
will the city of Pleasanton demonstrate regard for those of us who are already here? Part of
Pleasanton's charm is its lovely downtown area and those of us living in these homes work hard to
maintain our properties because we value being a part of this historic community.
I realize that some of the traffic increases cannot be controlled by Pleasanton as people living in
nearby communities, east of Pleasanton, use First Street to gain the fastest access to their homes.
This is not under our control.
1
