BACKGROUND <br /> The traffic signals at Amador Valley High School along Santa Rita Drive were identified <br /> as a high priority location in the City's Traffic Signal Priority List The traffic signals were <br /> recommended to be installed to improve access to and from the Amador Valley High <br /> School Parking lot The middle and north driveways along Santa Rita were modified to <br /> resemble a roadway entrance design (instead of a driveway entrance design) These <br /> modifications allow more efficient and safer movement of vehicles into and out of the lot <br /> and also provide an additional visual cue to pedestrians that they are crossing a <br /> signalized intersection To improve the egress, the middle driveway was widened to <br /> add an additional outbound left turn lane <br /> The project also included the pedestrian safety improvements Construction of sidewalk <br /> along the north property line of the parking lot provides an alternate pedestrian pathway <br /> that routes students around the parking lot signals PUSD agreed to pay for the <br /> construction of this sidewalk through a Reimbursement Agreement The City and PUSD <br /> executed the Reimbursement Agreement on March 15, 2016 <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The final construction contract cost was $514,751, including $7,385 (1 5% of the <br /> construction contract) in change orders The contract change orders were the result of <br /> an increase in contract quantities and additional work, including the removal of <br /> additional asphalt/concrete, performed by the contractor <br /> The final project funding and expenditures are summarized in Attachment 1 to this <br /> report, with a total project expense of $655,507 and a balance of $45,093 Additionally, <br /> the City will receive $49,500 from PUSD as reimbursement for their share of the cost for <br /> the sidewalk construction in the parking lot <br /> Submitted by Fisc I Review Approve by <br /> fr:I. <br /> 14.ft <br /> Gerry Beaudin Tina Olson Nelson Fialho <br /> Director of Director of Finance City Manager <br /> Community Development <br /> Attachments <br /> 1 Funding and Expenditure Summary <br /> Page 2 of 2 <br />
