THE CITY OF yy <br /> e;,` CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTOND <br /> November 15, 2016 <br /> City Manager <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A RAIL CONNECTION <br /> BETWEEN THE BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT AND ALTAMONT <br /> CORRIDOR EXPRESS RAIL SYSTEMS ON THE TRI-VALLEY <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Altamont Regional Rail Working Group which includes elected officials from the <br /> City of Pleasanton (Mayor Thorne), the City of Dublin, the City of Livermore, Alameda <br /> County, the City of Tracy, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), Altamont Corridor Express <br /> (ACE), Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA), San Joaquin County, and <br /> representatives from the East Bay Leadership Council, Innovation Tn-Valley Leadership <br /> Group, and the San Joaquin Partnership, has been meeting bi-monthly since their <br /> formation in February 2016 On September 14, 2016, the Working Group voted to ask <br /> its members agencies to bring a resolution to their respective legislative bodies <br /> supporting a rail connection between BART and ACE in the Tn-Valley Commuters <br /> from the northern San Joaquin Valley over the Altamont Pass and along 1-580 in the Tri- <br /> Valley have resulted in extreme congestion in both the AM and PM commutes A direct <br /> connection between ACE and BART (as opposed to the current bus shuttle service) <br /> would create a more attractive and practical commute alternative to driving on 1-580 and <br /> would improve inter-regional mobility <br /> RECOM' iENDATION <br /> Approve a resolution supporting a direct rail connection between BART and ACE <br /> systems in the Tn-Valley <br /> FINANCIAL <br /> No financial impact <br />
