Confidential Quote
September 16,
2016
automated check-in and sorting devices, and security gates to the system. Communication between the device and
the Sierra/Millennium system is via the library's Ethernet network,or an available RS232 port. Each device
connected to the system requires a separate 310I interface. Use of the 310I interface does not require purchase of a
user license.
The interface supports the standard capabilities of patron self-service devices(such as 3M's SelfCheck or
Checkpoint's ILS), including patron circulation status verification,check-in and checkout and renewal using standard
loan rules and due date calculation. Patron PIN verification is supported. Check with your vendor to be sure that their
device supports input of the PINs used by your library; for instance,Innovative supports alphanumeric PINs while
some devices support only numeric PINs.
Innovative can configure automated check-in machines to operate in one of two modes. In the first mode, the
system does not perform any check-ins that would normally require user intervention or an override. In the second
mode, the system checks in and processes some items that would normally require user intervention or an override.
These are:
•Items with holds that need to be added to the holdshelf
•Items that need to be sent to their owning locations
•Overdue items for which the patron owes fines
•Items that are already checked in
Depending on how your library sets up your automated check-in machine, it may notify the user when it cannot
check in an item. If the self-checkout station can desensitize magnetic materials, the interface can also be configured
with the material type value in the item record to indicate that certain magnetic media should not be desensitized.
Circulation statistics are gathered for self-checkout circulation activity as for any other circulation location. Security
devices such as loss prevention gates and alarms can use the SIP2 Item Status Inquiry command to determine if an
item is currently checked out.
Legal Terms&Conditions
Add-On Products("Add-On Products"): all fees payable within thirty(30)days of the date of receipt of an invoice
from Innovative.
