The Millennium Circulation and Express Lane functionalities and interfaces are updated to accommodate
circulating multiple items at one time-they can handle as many items as patrons can place on the RFID pad. Includes
2 hours of consulting time per vendor.
Fines Payments and Web Services
A web service API that allows third-party software to pay(and waive) patron financial obligations.A third party(non-
Innovative)application sends an inquiry by means of Web Services to the Millennium system, which is monitoring for
such inquiries. This inquiry is used to look up a patron record by any unique identifier. If the patron record is located,
the Millennium/Sierra system sends back patron data. Using this data, the third party application may then send
updates as appropriate. Applications using Patron Web Services request data through XML over HTTP or SOAP and
the service returns data as an XML-formatted stream of text. The service offers a relatively raw interface that
exposes the full flexibility of patron records. If the library is building a custom interface for the web service, then
someone on the library staff who is familiar with the data dictionary for their patron records should work to articulate
any restraints that should be put on the Patron Web Services interface to the(library provided) interface designer
(e.g.the web service should not overwrite any x-tagged note fields in the patron record or the web service should
not be able to waive fines). Both web services products require the use of SSL. The Web Service Definition Language
(WSDL)is available for viewing at
http://techdocs.iii.com/using the library's CSDirect superuser login. A development kit(a simple tool for
demonstrating how the web service works) is also available on that website.
Additional SIP 2 Licenses
This product offers check-in,check-out, renewal, and item status inquiry via the SIP2 (Standard Interchange
Protocol,Version 2) protocol, which allows connection to compatible devices such as patron self-service stations,
Page 1 of 3 www.iii.com
Doc ID:20150411
