Attachment 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON IN SUPPORT OF MEASURE 11: THE SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM SAFETY, RENOVATION, CONSTRUCTION, AND MODERNIZATION MEASURES WHEREAS, The Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) has identified a long list of capital projects necessary to upgrade existing school facilities in order to provide local students a modern and safe education; and WHEREAS, PUSD has concluded that these improvements are necessary to 1) provide a safe and comfortable educational experience for Pleasanton school children, 2) provide up-to- date science labs, equipment and technology to prepare students for college and modern careers, and 3) attract and retain the best teachers. WHEREAS; On July 30, 2016, the PUSD Board of Trustees passed a resolution to place a $260 million bond measure on the November 8, 2016 ballot; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1. The City Council formally endorses the School and Classroom Safety, Renovation, Construction and Modernization measure. SECTION 2. The City Council authorizes the City Manager and Mayor to send a letter of support for the School and Classroom Safety, Renovation, Construction and Modernization bond measure of 2016 to the PUSD Board of Trustees. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on October 4, 2016.
