THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PL£t1SANTONa <br /> September 13, 2016 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH <br /> BKF ENGINEERS FOR THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $80,000 TO <br /> EVALUATE AND DEVELOP PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE <br /> IMPROVEMENTS FOR 1-580 AND 1-680 OVERCROSSINGS <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Interstate 580 and 680 overcrossings have been identified as opportunity locations to <br /> enhance access for pedestrians and bicyclists. Improvements to these locations will <br /> make travel by walking or biking to destinations like Foothill Road, Stoneridge Mall and <br /> Dublin more appealing. Improving the bicycle and pedestrian facilities across both 1-580 <br /> and 1-680 will provide increased comfort and convenient routes across the City and to the <br /> rest of the region. <br /> Staff advertised a request for proposal (RFP) for the 1-580 and 1-680 Pedestrian and <br /> Bicycle Overcrossing Improvements; two proposals were submitted. Staff is <br /> recommending Council approve the attached agreement with BKF Engineers to complete <br /> the project. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the Professional Services Agreement with BKF Engineers to evaluate and <br /> develop pedestrian and bicycle improvements for the 1-580 and 1-680 <br /> Overcrossings for the not to exceed amount of $80,000. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached professional services <br /> agreement. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for the 1-580 and 1-680 Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing Improvements will <br /> be provided through the Bicycle and Pedestrian Related Improvements project, CIP No. <br /> 165043. This project is funded by Alameda County Measure B and Measure BB Bicycle <br /> and Pedestrian funds. <br />
