Councilmember Brown disclosed she is a tennis player and stated no one would have suggested the <br /> proposed location of the tennis courts, if they knew how well-loved the open field was. She spoke <br /> about the importance of getting input from all stakeholders, explained the meaning of a "managed <br /> court" and stated her preference for Alternative 3. <br /> Councilmember Olson reported he purposefully, did not meet with the neighborhood or the tennis <br /> community. He provided statistics in terms of use of the tennis courts and felt there is no urgency in the <br /> matter. He agreed that the fence should be removed as soon as possible but would like staff to review <br /> capacity throughout the City, including total available hours to determine where additional capacity is <br /> needed. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Narum/Brown to direct staff to cancel the current contract, remove the <br /> construction fence as soon as possible, and explore alternative locations, understanding that the tennis <br /> courts will be located at the Tennis and Community Park, with the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br /> Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: Councilmember Pentin <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:14 p.m. <br /> Respectfully bmitted, <br /> Kare Diaz <br /> City Clerk <br /> City Council Minutes Page 5 of 5 August 9,2016 <br />
