In response to Councilmember Pentin's question regarding a 9212 report, Mr. Rand indicated Council
should follow the procedure listed, which pertains to the issuance of a 9212 report, and would
synthesize the information contained in the voluminous public record.
Courtney Bouie, Pleasanton, expressed concerns with existing traffic congestion and spoke in
opposition to building a Costco on Johnson Drive. She asked Council to place the initiative on the
November ballot.
Alyssa Schwab, Pleasanton spoke in opposition to building a Costco and asked Council to place the
initiative on the November ballot.
John Nunes, Livermore, spoke in opposition to the Johnson Drive EDZ and asked Council to place the
initiative on the November ballot. He expressed concern that approving an EDZ would facilitate the
building of a Walmart Supercenter and would be a drain on public resources.
Kristen Edwards, Pleasanton, asked Council to place the initiative on the November ballot.
Robin Barnes, Pleasanton, noted he's not concerned about Costco having an effect on his business,
but stated he does not think Johnson Drive is the proper site for it. He suggested placing it at another
location and asked Council to place the initiative on the November ballot.
William Wheeler, Jr., Livermore, noted there is now enough information that the proposed project will
have a negative impact on the citizens of Pleasanton, in the form of increased traffic congestion.
Rather than delay the decision and increase costs, he urged Council to place the initiative on the
November ballot.
Larry Dennis, Pleasanton, spoke in opposition to constructing a Costco on Johnson Drive and urged
Council to place the initiative on the November ballot.
Patrick Follain, Pleasanton, spoke in opposition of including a Costco in the Johnson Drive EDZ plans
due to increased traffic congestion. He urged Council to place the initiative on the November ballot.
Bill Wheeler, Pleasanton, urged Council to place the initiative on the November ballot and not delay the
vote. He added that Costco is not the only and may not be the best choice. He suggested constructing
a "lifestyle" center with restaurants, entertainment and boutiques which can be used by all Pleasanton
residents while still generating tax revenues for the City.
Councilmember Brown asked whether the 50,000 square foot limit is cumulative for the entire EDZ or
per building. Mr. Wheeler stated it is per building; individual business/companies.
Yogash Basnet, commented on increasing traffic congestion in the City and spoke in opposition to a
new Costco on Johnson Drive. He urged Council to place the initiative on the November ballot.
Sandy Yamaoda urged Council to place the initiative on the November ballot.
Mahendra Patel spoke about increased traffic congestion in the City.
Debbie Hudgens expressed concerns regarding increased traffic congestion and spoke in opposition to
a Costco on Johnson Drive.
