BACKGROUND
Kate Steinle was born on 12/13/83 to her parents Liz and Jim Steinle. She was raised in
the City of Pleasanton along with her brother, Brad Steinle. Kate and Brad both
attended Walnut Grove Elementary School, Harvest Park Middle School, and Amador
Valley High School, where Kate graduated in 2001. While growing up, Kate enjoyed
youth soccer and Girl Scouts. Tragically on July 1 , 2015, Kate Steinle was shot and
killed while walking with her father near Pier 14 in San Francisco.
In Kate's honor, the Steinle's partnered with On Your Mark Events and would like to
host the inaugural "Good for the Soul" 5K and 10K run in memory of Kate. Proceeds
from the run will benefit Students Rising Above, The Challenged Athletes Foundations,
and a Tri-Valley charity to be named later.
Prior to the event, the Police Chief will declare that an unusual condition exists, thereby
allowing City streets to be temporarily closed and authorizing temporary parking
controls on affected streets to be enforced.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approv by:
(,.,, k
David C.
