Mike Moran. Pleasanton, spoke in support of increased bicycle and pedestrian safety and noted the <br /> dangers of specific intersections in the City. He encouraged the City to act, immediately, to make <br /> streets safer, including installing sharrows and reducing speeds. <br /> Steven McGinnis, Pleasanton, Member of the Bike, Pedestrian and Trails Committee, but speaking on <br /> behalf of himself, commented on Ms. Turner's contributions to the community and on the circumstances <br /> behind her recent death. He stated that her death resulted from an obsolete and defective intersection <br /> and listed current conditions in support of his statement. Mr. McGinnis encouraged Council to have the <br /> intersection fixed, right away. <br /> Susie Hufstader, Oakland. a Member of Bike East Bay. reported that her organization has experience <br /> in helping cities improve bike safety. She spoke in support of bicycle and pedestrian safety and noted <br /> there would be increased participation in cycling, if safe facilities existed. <br /> Rebecca Wood. Danville. Board Member of the Valley Spokesmen. asked Council not to let Ms. <br /> Turner's death be in vain. She addressed the dangers of specific City intersections and urged Council <br /> to make bike safety, a priority. <br /> Emi Lee, Pleasanton, spoke regarding the dangers of the intersection at Valley and Bernal, and urged <br /> Council to prioritize bicycle and pedestrian safety in the City. <br /> Lisa Young, Pleasanton, commented on the dangers of the intersection of Valley and Bernal and urged <br /> Council to address the matter, as soon as possible. <br /> Nora Crans, Castro Valley. Member of the Valley Spokesmen, spoke regarding various dangerous <br /> intersections in the City and urged Council to address bicycle safety. <br /> Youngmin Lee, Pleasanton, commented on the recent cycling fatality and urged Council to address <br /> bicycle safety. <br /> Greg Visscher, Pleasanton, commented on the existing dangers related to Iron Horse Trail and urged <br /> Council to address the matter. <br /> Bill Spain, Pleasanton, Yes on Measure K Campaign supporter, thanked the Mayor, Councilmembers, <br /> the Planning Commission, City staff and residents for taking the time to educate themselves on the <br /> benefits of voting Yes on Measure K. He commented on the process and thanked the City for providing <br /> an open forum for discussion of the matter. <br /> John Gowey. Pleasanton. expressed concerns regarding bicycle and pedestrian safety in the City. He <br /> stated that cyclists in the City, are considered family and take care of each other. He urged Council to <br /> consider its residents and their safety. <br /> Joanne Lauer, Castor Valley, commented on her experience being hit by a car, two years ago, and her <br /> efforts to help increase bicycle and pedestrian safety. She urged Council to address the matter and <br /> use the resources available to it. <br /> Mary Malloy-Thompson. Pleasanton, reported she is not part of a cycling group, but she and her family <br /> ride bicycles. She commented on the recent bicycle fatality and urged Council to act to increase <br /> bicycle safety and make it a priority. <br /> Bruce Duggie.
