Public Comment <br /> Jim Van Dyke spoke regarding the recent passing of Gail Turner in an accident along a dangerous <br /> intersection in the City, spoke in favor of protected bikeways, and encouraged bicycling and walking <br /> rather than driving. <br /> Todd Nelson, Member of the Bike, Pedestrian and Trails Committee, but speaking on behalf of himself, <br /> suggested installing a bike rack at the Civic Center, encouraged Council to consider extension of the <br /> Iron Horse Trail, commented positively on plans listed in the City's website and offered to work with the <br /> City to expand its participation in social media. <br /> Sharon Piekarski, Pleasanton, expressed concerns regarding bike safety in the City. <br /> John Houston, Pleasanton, spoke in support of making City streets safer for bicyclists and pedestrians. <br /> David Fisch, Pleasanton, spoke in support of improving bicycle safety in the City through safe, <br /> protected, cycling and pedestrian routes. He added that this should be a top priority, suggested that <br /> the City hire a dedicated transportation planner and urged that the City do more to address bike and <br /> pedestrian safety. <br /> City Council Minutes Page 2 of 14 July 19, 2016 <br />
