As you know, the original General Plan approved in 1985 included 12 tennis courts. The completion of <br />phase two of the park included many additional features for the general public in additional to 5 new <br />courts. One of the main reasons that the 7 courts were not built was that their had been a substantial lobby <br />for handball courts in place of the tennis courts. It was later determined that the people lobbying for the the <br />handball courts were not Pleasanton residents and in the end the handball courts were not approved. Due to <br />the delays and additional costs of proposed revisions, the budget for the Park was exceeded and two of the <br />courts were eliminated. <br />1 <br />
