Pleasanton City Clerk SUPPL i'WAL IfrAcieRlinaiL •
•Subject: Citizens for Planned Growth Initiative Provided to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
Date . 7//e/!6
From: Matt Sullivan
Sent: Monday,July 18, 2016 11:32 AM
To: Mayor and City Council<citycouncil @cityofpleasantonca.gov>; Nelson Fialho<NFialho @citvofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject:Citizens for Planned Growth Initiative
Dear Mayor, City Council, and Nelson,
I'm writing regarding the Citizens for Planned Growth Initiative for the Johnson Drive EDZ. I urge you to pass
a resolution Tuesday night placing the initiative on the November 8`" ballot, and to adopt an impartial Ballot
Question that does not reflect your publicly expressed opposition to the initiative (unlike the poorly worded and
biased ballot question you established for Measure K). Actually, my first choice would be to for you adopt the
initiative outright, but I realize that would be a foolish request so I won't.
An informational report is not necessary as the initiative is closely aligned with Alternative 2 of the SEIR. The
basic information needed to evaluate the impacts of the initiative are included in this analysis. Since I'm fairly
certain that you will ignore this suggestion, alternatively you must prepare any informational report and
schedule a special meeting to support the August 12th deadline for the November ballot.
It's no secret that none of you wants this on the ballot in November. If you intentionally delay the process to
miss the deadline you will be increasing the costs of the election over ten-fold, cynically disrupting the
democratic process guaranteed to our citizens by the state constitution, and effectively disenfranchising the over
5,000 people who signed the initiative petition who want to vote on this issue now. Please do the right thing
and place this on the ballot for November.
Thank you.
Matt Sullivan
1
