Circulation and Parking. The parking and circulation plan is designed to minimize the introduction of new pervious paving to this environmentally-sensitive site. Old Foothill Road would be converted to a southbound, single lane, one-way street; the former southbound lane would be used to provide up to 50 parallel parking spaces and an adjacent decomposed granite walking path (see Figure 2). Some additional accessible parking spaces and a drop off area to serve the Alviso Adobe site would also be constructed. The project also includes improvements to the intersection of Old Foothill Road, Foothill Road, and Jerlin Place to provide a deceleration lane for vehicles entering from Foothill Road, and some associated storm drainage improvements. Other related improvements include, but are not limited to, minor grading, a new pavement overlay, painted parking spaces, and signage. 2. Open Space Access. The current easement providing access to the Castleridge Property from Old Foothill Road is coterminous with a paved driveway that provides access to the Messa and Segundo properties (see Figures 3 and 4). In order to separate trail users from residential traffic, an alternative access trail in a new easement across the City's open space area of the Austin Property is proposed that would link to the existing trail on the Castleridge Property (see Figures 2 and 3).
