7.2 Alternative Workweek <br /> Alternate workday or workweek periods may be authorized by the Department Head or <br /> City Manager to accommodate temporary business needs such as special scheduled <br /> events or projects, or work-related certification testing, that may require work on a <br /> weekend or different hours than the standard workweek(see section 7.1 for definition of <br /> standard workweek). Depending on the event or project,this could involve: <br /> • Altering the workweek to include a workday on Saturday and/or Sunday. In this <br /> instance,the employee's alternate day(s) off shall be scheduled at the beginning <br /> or end of the employee's remaining workweek, except under circumstances of <br /> unusual scheduling, workload, or by mutual agreement with the Department <br /> Head, when the day(s) off may be midweek. <br /> • Elongating the workday to 9 or 10 hours, and shortening the workweek. <br /> Among qualified employees, who shall be afforded equal opportunity, volunteers shall be <br /> first solicited for such duty, and three (3)days shall be allowed for this solicitation. <br /> Where insufficient volunteers exist after such solicitation, such duty shall be equally <br /> distributed among qualified employees, who shall in no case be given less than three (3) <br /> we iceweeks' notice of such duty. <br /> 7.3 Rest Periods <br /> Employees shall be entitled to take a rest period of fifteen(15)minutes for each half of a <br /> full work shift. The City may schedule the time of the rest period to reduce impact on <br /> work operations. <br /> Section 8. Overtime <br /> 8.1 Overtime Rate <br /> Full time employees who are assigned by their supervisor to work after completion of <br /> their work day shall be entitled to overtime compensation for all hours so worked, <br /> provided, however, that the overtime rate shall be computed at one and one-half(1-1/2) <br /> times the employee's regular rate of pay as calculated to the nearest one-tenth(1/10) of an <br /> hour. <br /> 8.2 Call Back <br /> An employee who has departed from the employee's work location and is called back to <br /> work shall be entitled to a minimum of two (2)hours work or, if no work is performed, a <br /> minimum of two (2) hours pay. Such two (2)hour entitlement of pay, and any time <br /> worked in excess of two (2) hours per call back assignment, shall be compensated at time <br /> and one-half the employee's regular hourly rate of pay.
