b. Cap raceways to prevent contaminant infiltration during construction work.
c.Remove and off haul wiring from light pole base Christy boxes to light pole bases.
d. Remove and off haul pole and light head.
e. Excavate and off haul pole base anchorages, Christy boxes, and related hardscaping.
Installations
1. Install pole base anchorage: Reference Appendix 3.
a. Verify finish grade so ample anchor bolt thread will penetrate the finished hardscape.
b. Galvanized rigid raceway to be utilized in between the pole base and the Christy.
2. Install N9 cement Christy in front of pole base at existing raceway/wiring junction points:
Reference Appendix 3.
a. Verify finish grade and elevate new Christy so it is incorporated into the hardscape with pole
base.
b. Extend underground feed raceways up through bottom of new Christy to facilitate wire re-pull
and ensure proper future access. Install duct seal over conduit stubs to prevent debris infiltration
during construction work.
c. Cement Christy lid to be stamped "electrical".
3. Pour/finish specified hardscape around pole base and Christy box:
a. Concrete shall consist of a 6.3 sack mix with 3/4" crushed rock and 1 pound of lamp black per
cubic yard.
b. The finish shall be a medium broom finish or match the adjacent sidewalk detail. Reference
Appendix 3.
4. Re-pull lighting circuit(s) and any other pre-existing services from controller to Christy boxes at
pole bases:
a. Follow CEC for proper conductor properties, ampacities, and sizing relative to accounting for
voltage drop and over-current protection in respect to distribution devices.
b. Ensure ample wire is coiled in Christy for termination and future service. (min of 30").
5. Assemble, erect pole with light head: Reference Appendix 1.
a. Ensure power conduit stub sits just below pole hand hole opening to facilitate pulling wire.
Install a bushed conduit end or fitting.
b. Ensure ample wire is coiled inside the pole at the hand hole opening for termination and future
service. (min of 18").
c. Affix all pole and light appurtenances per manufacturer.
6.1 Terminations at Christy boxes:
a. Utilize watertight rated splices appropriate to the size and number of conductors being joined.
Silicone encased tube splices, resin compound packets around wire nuts, and re-
enterable multi-tap connectors taped and dipped in coating are acceptable means.
b. Utilize duct seal to form around the remaining annular space of the underground raceways to
prevent contaminant infiltration.
