A. Commissioner Wheeler indicated she would like for this Commission to be able to <br />discuss the need for additional lighting on Division Street near the Firehouse Arts <br />Center. Ms. Crose advised that this is a matter that needs to be discussed by both the <br />Pleasanton Downtown Association and the City's Economic Vitality Committee and did <br />not believe it was something that should be brought before the Civic Arts Commission. <br />Ms. Crose advised that staff had shared the Commission's concerns on this matter with <br />the City Manager. <br />B. Commissioner Wheeler discussed the possibility that a Literature Ambassador would be <br />a better fit for the City of Pleasanton rather than having a Poet Laureate. Ms. Crose <br />indicated she would like to discuss this further and suggested Commissioner Wheeler <br />contact her so she could learn more details. <br />C. Chairperson Wedge -Bonde commented on two concerts she and her family had <br />attended recently at the Firehouse Arts Center. Commissioners Steenman and Jellison <br />also commented on recent arts shows and events they had attended and encouraged <br />other members of the Commission to take advantage of the programs and events being <br />offered and try to attend. <br />D. Commissioner Orenberg provided information about a conversation he had had recently <br />with the Firehouse Art Center's lighting person, Mike Roberts. He also provided <br />information about a show he and his brother will be doing at the Firehouse Arts Center <br />on April 14, 2016. <br />E. Commissioner DeBernardi provided details about a Multi- Cultural Week event at both <br />Foothill and Amador Valley High Schools. <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br />Ms. Crose provided the following information and comments: <br />1. She thanked members of the Commission for attending shows and events at the <br />Firehouse Arts Center and the Amador Theatre, advising that attendance numbers are <br />increasing. <br />2. She also discussed the success of the recent "Little Mermaid' production and <br />commented on the large number of attendees to the shows. <br />3. Commissioners were informed that the next meeting of the Civic Arts Commission is <br />scheduled for May 2, 2016 and discussion topics for the meeting could likely include the <br />following: <br />a) Review of an art piece for the Cultural Building <br />b) Renewal of the Children's Theatre contract <br />c) Art and Innovation Follow -up discussions <br />4.
