Authorize the Director of Engineering to increase the agreement amount to a not to <br /> exceed amount of $125,000 if additional services are determined to be necessary <br /> during the course of the study. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is $100,000 currently budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program Budget for <br /> this project - Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Station Two and Three Assessment Study, CIP <br /> No. 158042. An additional $25,000 is necessary and is available in the General Fund <br /> Contingency to fully fund the project at $125,000, including $112,000 for the base scope <br /> of work and $13,000 as contingency if additional services are determined to be necessary <br /> during the course of the study. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Addressing the remodel/renovation needs of Fire Station Two and Three is a listed priority <br /> in the current City Council Work Plan. Funds were budgeted in the Capital Improvement <br /> Program budget to begin work on this priority - Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Station Two <br /> and'Three Assessment Study - CIP No. 158042. Through a Request for Qualifications <br /> (RFQ) selection process, JKA was selected as the most qualified firm to assist City staff <br /> in moving forward with this priority. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> In November 2015 an RFQ was advertised seeking an architectural firm qualified to <br /> design and prepare biddable construction documents to renovate Fire Station Two and <br /> Three. Fire Station'Two is located at the intersection of West Las Positas and Santa Rita - <br /> Road. Fire Station Three is next to the Stoneridge Mall. In response to the RFQ, eight <br /> architectural firms (along with their assembled subconsultant teams) submitted their <br /> Statement of Qualifications (SOQs). A selection committee consisting of Kathleen <br /> Yurchak (Director of Operations and Water Utilities), Chris Rizzoli (Support Services <br /> Supervisor), Jeff Peters (Deputy Fire Chief), and Stephen Kirkpatrick (Director of <br /> Engineering/City Engineer) reviewed the SOQs. The selection committee invited the <br /> following four firms to participate in an interview: <br /> ATI Architects Danville, California <br /> Brown Reynolds Watford San Francisco, California <br /> Jeff Katz Architecture Sonoma, California <br /> Mark Albertson Petaluma, California <br /> On January 6, 2016, the consultant selection committee interviewed the four firms and <br /> unanimously chose JKA as the most qualified to assist the City with the project. JKA has <br /> been involved in the design and construction or renovation of more than 50 fire stations <br /> in California. This experience has given JKA a keen understanding of not only fire station <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
