THE CITY OF •
1 0
'°- 'u' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTONC
February 16, 2016
Community Services
TITLE: APPROVE THE AGREEMENT WITH MISSION VALLEY SPORTS
OFFICIALS, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $105,000 FOR UMPIRE
COLLECTIVE SERVICES
SUMMARY
The City has historically utilized contract services to provide sports officiating services
for City youth and adult sport leagues, as well as tournaments. The agreement for
umpire collective services for adult softball has expired, and staff is recommending
renewing its Agreement with Mission Valley Sports Officials, Inc. to provide these
services from March 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018. As indicated in the proposed
Agreement, Mission Valley Sports Officials, Inc. will provide official selection, training,
scheduling, and supervision for adult softball league games and tournament play.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve the Agreement with the Mission Valley
Sports Officials, Inc. in the amount of $105,000 for umpire collective services
(Attachment 1).
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Compensation is based on a "time-and-materials basis" and cannot exceed $105,000 in
2016; $106,000 in 2017; and $108,000 in 2018. The cost of the Agreement is offset
completely by revenues the City receives from softball tournament and the adult softball
program league fee(s). Funding is included in the current FY 2015/2016 Operating
Budget in Account#416526.
