CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE N0. 753 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-16.07, ARTICLE 1 <br /> (REGULATION OF WATER SYSTEMS AND WATER SERVICE FEES), <br /> CHAPTER 9 (WATER), TITLE II (ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT) <br /> OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RELATING TO FEES AND CHARGES FOR WATER RATES AND <br /> ADOPTING THE SAME AS AN URGENCY ORDINANCE. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY <br /> ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Section 2-16.07 (Water Rates and Charges), <br /> Article 1, Chapter 9, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the <br /> City of Pleasanton is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Sec. 2-16.07 Water Rates and Charges. There is hereby <br /> levied and assessed upon all premises connected with <br /> the water system a service charge based upon the size <br /> of the water meter to the premises and a charge based <br /> upon the amount of water flow through said meter, <br /> both of which said charges shall be paid. The amount <br /> of the service charge and the charge for water used <br /> shall be in accordance with the amount specified in <br /> the Resolution Establishing Various Fees and Charges <br /> for Municipal Services of the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The City Council hereby declares that should <br />any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this ordinance <br />be declared invalid for any reason, the Council would have <br />passed all other portions of this ordinance independent of <br />the elimination herefrom with any such portion as maybe declared <br />invalid. <br /> <br /> Section 3. This ordinance shall become effective immedi- <br />ately upon its introduction and adoption by a four-fifths vote <br />of the City Council as an urgency measure. <br /> <br /> Section 4. The circumstances creating the urgency are <br /> <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. The City of Pleasanton has not increased its water <br />rates since 1970 and during that ~irne the cost for supplying <br />water by the City of Pleasanton has increased substantially. <br /> <br /> <br />
