THE CITY OF 1 0 e. n a ry mrml pLEAsANroN.m CITY COUNCIL AGEN p REPORT -- . - January 19, 2016 Police TITLE: APPROVAL OF SPECIAL EVENT STREET CLOSURES FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2016 SUMMARY The Pleasanton Municipal Code requires City Council approval of parades and special events which necessitate the temporary closure of City streets and temporary parking restrictions. RECOMMENDATION Approve the street closures for the 2016 Special Events as detailed in Attachment 1. FINANCIAL STATEMENT This information is being provided to give the City Council and the citizens of Pleasanton an estimate of personnel costs connected to street closures in 2016. It is estimated the Police Department will expend approximately 1,389 hours on street closures relating to twenty-five special events this year. The twenty-five events for 2016 represent a less than one percent decrease from the number of events that were held in 2015. The Streets Department estimates approximately 450 hours to prepare for, set up, and after the event, collect barriers, cones and barricades for the special events in this staff report. After calculating the Police personnel costs, at an overtime rate, and the Streets Department personnel costs at regular rate, associated with 2016 special events, the cost of street closures associated with the events report are approximately $244,177.00 ($208,177.00 Police Department; $36,000.00 Streets Department).
