CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT pLE ASANTON, December 1, 2015 Community Services TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 2.39, CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION SUMMARY On October 21, 2014, the City Council approved the 2014 Cultural Plan which provides a framework of nine (9) goals and 36 strategies to assist the City with directing resources toward programming, facilities and for addressing future community art related needs over the next several years. As a result, the Civic Arts Commission reviewed and prioritized the goals and strategies, and determined that Goal 9, Strategy 9.1: "Consider reconstituting the Civic Arts Commission as the Arts and Cultural Commission to reflect the enhanced duties embodied in this plan and make appropriate revisions to the Municipal Code", among their highest priorities. On March 17, 2015, the City Council adopted its Annual Work Plan for FY 2015/16 that included updating the Pleasanton Municipal Code Chapter 2.39, Civic Arts Commission, so that it would more accurately describe the current duties and membership of the Civic Arts Commission. At the November 3, 2015 Civic Arts Commission meeting, staff presented the Commission with the proposed changes to the Pleasanton Municipal Code Chapter 2.39, Civic Arts Commission. The Civic Arts Commission approved the recommendation and requested that staff forward the item to the City Council for their review and consideration. CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve the proposed changes to Pleasanton Municipal Code Chapter 2.39, Civic Arts Commission. RECOMMENDATION That the City Council introduced an ordinance to amend Pleasanton Municipal Code Chapter 2.39, Civic Arts Commission to reflect current duties, actions, and modify membership.
