COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> Mayor Thorne announced that he received an award from LAFCO to the Tri-Valley cities and San <br /> Ramon and the Services District for the Tri-Valley Utility Study which he accepted on the City's behalf. <br /> Councilmember Olson publicly thanked the firefighters who worked last Saturday on Fire Ops 101. <br /> They contributed their own time and the experience was very worthwhile. <br /> Councilmember Narum concurred and said it was an eye-opening experience. She attended the <br /> League of Cities Conference, the Keynote on the differences between baby boomers, Gen-X and <br /> Millennials in transitioning on how they work and what they want in the places they live in to keep them <br /> happy. She also attended a lecture on the new Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and brought <br /> back a copy of the law. She also attended a seminar on PERS and they are talking about dropping the <br /> rate of return down to 6 ''/z% with the goal of evening out the volatility which means employees will be <br /> paying more. Lastly, she walked through the vendor exhibition hall and saw a great toddler swing <br /> attached to an adult swing and she has asked the City Manager to look into purchasing one. <br /> Mayor Thorne reported also attending the conference and he spoke for 10 minutes about what <br /> occurred there. <br /> Vice-Mayor Brown congratulated Vintage Hills Elementary School for ranking for a Blue Ribbon School <br /> nationally which is a big honor. <br /> Councilmember Pentin said he attended Fire Ops 101 and learned a lot about fire science in one day. <br /> He appreciated the efforts of firefighters and City staff who took part in it, and it was a great experience. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:55 p.m. The Council extended a <br /> tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
