SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
Dear Steve, Date //-320
I am livid that this topic of expansion of the historical ordinance is on
the City Council agenda. You formed a task force that studied the issue
for two years. I attended many of their meetings and they diligently
discussed every aspect of this ordinance. It was decided to spend
several hundred thousand dollars to study the historic homes in the
downtown area. The result is a 700 page report.
Now a very small number of citizens as decided that the scope of this
recommendation should be expanded. Instead of re-convening the
task force (who studied the issue for two years) to have them review
the suggested expansion of the ordinance, the item is on the City
Council agenda. How dare you ignore all of the task force's work and
not consider that they did a complete job. This is what always happens
with task forces in the city of Pleasanton and it is about time it stops.
The tail is wagging the dog again.
This is all about more government control and waste of citizens tax
dollars on the increased government control. No one on city staff has
the credentials that are required to administer such an expansion. We
have a beautiful, eclectic downtown, in which I have lived and worked
for forty two years. We don't need more non-credentialed control to
keep it that way.
Sincerely,
Jan Batcheller
644 Saint Mary Street
