Also work to improve and enhance Division Street to increase the
connectivity of the Firehouse to Downtown.
Downtown Gateways and Wayfinding Signage Pogram
Work with all stakeholders to develop a cohesive, branded gateway program for
all four, main downtown gateways. Additionally begin work to design a functional
and stylish wayfinding signage program to bring more people into downtown.
Looking forward to 2016, events planned by PDA during the year are projected to
generate approximately 56% of the total 2016 revenue for the PDA. The forty-seven
scheduled events (the same number of events as in 2015), include: five First Wednesday
Street Parties (May, June, July, August and September); thirteen Concerts in the Park in
Lions Wayside Park (June through August); two Antique Fairs (May and October); one
Wine Stroll (June); one Installation Mixer (January); one Annual Meeting (April); one
Board Retreat (mid-year); three membership mixers (April, June or July and October),
two Brew Crawls (March and October), eight Sizzling Saturdays (every Saturday in
August and September), four Sunday Fundays (every Sunday in August); one Small
Business Saturday (November); one Downtown Magical Holiday Evening (November);
one Holiday Spirit Stroll (November) and two special events celebrating SuperBowl 50
(February). These planned events will require street closures to occur in the Downtown
area on seven days, specifically for the First Wednesday Street Parties and Antique Fairs.
Proposed Changes
Additionally for 2016, the Advisory Board is recommending clarification of the BID
boundaries to remove residentially zoned properties on Ray Street and to include
commercially zoned properties along Old Bernal Avenue from the BID as reflected in the
map shown in the Pleasanton Municipal Code (PMC), as well as elimination of the new
business exemption.
Clarification of BID Boundaries
The BID boundaries are shown on a map in PMC Chapter 5.28.040. In reviewing this map
earlier this year, it was noted that 1) numerous residentially zoned parcels along Ray
Street which are not assessed the BID assessment are included within the BID boundaries
map; 2) nine commercially zoned parcels along Old Bernal Avenue on which businesses
do pay the BID assessment are not included in the BID boundaries map; and 3) the map
Page 3 of 5
