THE CITY OF CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT �.J( pLE ASANTONC November 3, 2015 Community Services TITLE: DESIGNATE HARDING PARK AS THE PERMANENT NAME FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD PARK (T) TO BE CONSTRUCTED AT THE INTERSECTION OF GIBRALTAR DRIVE AND HACIENDA DRIVE SUMMARY On May 1, 2012, the City Council approved the Planned Unit Development (PUD) development plan approving the construction of a mixed-use high-density residential/commercial development with a public park at the property located at the northern corner of Gibraltar Drive and Hacienda Drive. The developer, Essex, formally BRE, will construct and dedicate the park property to the City. The City will be responsible for maintaining the park. At its meeting on July 9, 2015, the Parks and Recreation Commission held a public meeting to consider several potential names for the neighborhood park to be constructed as part of the Essex 2 development. After receiving public input, the Commission unanimously selected the name "Harding Park" as the permanent name for the neighborhood park. Additionally, Courtesy Notices regarding this item were mailed to all addresses within 1,000' feet of the Essex 2 Planned Unit Development site. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve the recommendation to designate "Harding Park" as the permanent name for the neighborhood park (T) to be constructed at the intersection of Gibraltar Drive and Hacienda Drive. FINANCIAL STATEMENT There is no fiscal impact to the City, as the cost for the park's signage would be part of the park's construction project.
