Exhibit A
October 10, 2015
Mr. Brian Dolan
Assistant City Manager
City of Pleasanton
P.O. Box 520
Pleasanton, CA 94566
Via e-mail: bdolan @cityofpleasantonca.gov
RE:Contract Amendment—Continuation of Master Planning Services
Dear Brian,
We are very pleased to have been invited to work with you and the City of Pleasanton again,
in studying new options for the location and configuration of your library and city hall.
I am writing at this time to request an amendment to our Professional Services Agreement for
the Pleasanton Library, dated December 3, 2009. The new scope will be to continue the
master planning work that we have started at the Civic Center site, and to expand the scope
to cover the current site and other adjacent properties. This letter contains our proposal for
this work, including our understanding of the scope of services, fees, and schedule.
The City of Pleasanton is interested in looking at a number of options for expanding Library
and City Hall services, either at the current Civic Center site, or nearby as part of the phase 3
development of Bernal Park.
The tasks involved in our scope of work are as follows:
1. Review Prior Studies: Review work completed in the last 2 studies for the new Library
and expanded City Hall at the existing Civic Center site. Consolidate and summarize
previous reports and documents for presentations.
2. Develop Library Program: Work with library staff to review and update the program
for the new library building.
3. Develop City Hall Program: Interview City department heads to prepare a draft-
building program for,the new City Hall. The program will be based on projected future
needs for each department and comparative information on similar projects.
4. City Hall and Council Chamber Research: Research city hall and council chamber sizes
with other similarly sized facilities to propose a size for the new building. Base
research on staff interviews, comparison of other built projects, review standards and
"rule of thumb"design criteria of similar and current civic projects, comparable data
on built city hall and council chamber sizes.
5. Review Task Force Input to Date: Review completed tour impressions,Task Force
input and preliminary Work Plan from September Task Force meeting notes,to help
define the programs and studies to be done.
Architecture
7,•,,,:
150 California Tel.415.788.6606
7th Floor
h,. 0 h •A„.
