Subject: FW: Ponderosa project __ I__FLEMENTAL MATERIAL.
Provided to the City Council
Alter, Distribution of Packet
From: Tim Hunt []
Sent: Sunday, October 04, 2015 1:09 PM Date on Q
_ 5 za
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: Ponderosa project
Dear Mayor and Council members,
I am writing to encourage you to approve Ponderosa's application to build 25 homes on the property currently
owned by Centerpointe Church. As I believe you know, I am an elder at Centerpointe.
To me, this amounts to a small infill project of just 25 homes (reduced from 29 in the original application). That
there is a demand for these homes goes without saying. The approval amounts to building out the neighborhood
and would be a tiny, but welcome addition to the housing stock. The difference in water usage, based upon
actual Centerpointe bills from 2012-2013 amount to 700 gallons a day. It is insignificant. A large church
campus serving a congregation of 2,500-3,000 members with a preschool and k-8 school with 200 students will
have a far greater impact on the neighbors.
We hope to relocate nearby in an office/industrial area and continue our more than 140 years of ministry in
Pleasanton. (Centerpointe is the longest established church in Pleasanton). As I have studied and observed the
cultural changes as well as land and construction costs, it is clear why many churches are choosing to locate in
existing buildings in office park environments. The only church I can think of in the last decade to build new is
Crosswinds and they had owned land there in Livermore since the mid-1990s.
I would be happy to visit with any of you and answer any questions. Thanks for your service to our community
and your consideration.
Tim Hunt
Publisher, ACES
Principal, Hunt Enterprises
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
