I know there is a huge demand for childcare and its being
forced into residential neighborhoods; and, churches are being forced into retail/business parks. This is not a benefit to
the community. Here is my story:
For years my family lived in Pleasanton where we raised our children and loved the community. But, when a home
daycare business became our next door neighbor, the traffic and disruption to our peaceful court changed. Parents
blocked our driveway, children on playground equipment were noisy and neighbors became disgruntled. Despite our
pleas to the Planning Commission and the City Council, the daycare which was approved for 12 children, but often had
up to 16 present at one time, continued. For us,the court became unbearable, so we sold our home and moved.
A community needs more than houses.
Carmen Rouquette
1
