THE CITY OF Q <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 8 <br /> pL EASANTON, <br /> October 6, 2015 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE LOCATION OF THE PUBLIC ARTWORK, "GOLDY" AT <br /> 3670 NEVADA STREET <br /> SUMMARY <br /> On December 6, 2011 at its regular meeting, City Council approved the purchase of <br /> several public art pieces as part of the Harrington Public Art Acquisition Plan Phase IL <br /> Due to the time that has passed since the original approval, several of the original <br /> pieces are no longer available. However, the City Council has agreed to allow for <br /> suitable replacements for the remaining six (6) pieces. As part of that agreement, the <br /> Harringtons would like to donate "Goldy', a Cor-Ten steel replica of a cat as a suitable <br /> replacement for one of those pieces. <br /> The piece is proposed to be installed at the Valley Humane Society facility located at <br /> 3670 Nevada Street. The Valley Human Society has agreed to have the piece placed <br /> on their property. In accordance with the City's Public Art Program, "Goldy" and its <br /> proposed location have been approved by both the Public Art Selection Subcommittee <br /> and the Civic Arts Commission. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the location of the public artwork "Goldy' at 3670 Nevada <br /> Street. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the location of the public artwork "Goldy' at 3670 Nevada <br /> Street. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The artwork "Goldy' which is valued at $1,300, has been donated to the City by Nancy <br /> and Gary Harrington. Pursuant to the terms of the Harrington Art Partnership, it is the <br /> City's responsibility to coordinate and pay for the installation of the public artworks. The <br /> cost of installing the piece is estimated between $2,000- $4,000 and will be funded <br /> through the Public Art Acquisition Fund # 038-900-4385. <br />
