MATTERS INITIATED <br /> Councilmember Pentin requested and received majority support to add the Zoning Code update to the <br /> City Council's Work Plan priorities. <br /> Mr. Fialho advised that staff would return with a Consent Calendar item acknowledging the addition of <br /> that project to the Work Plan. <br /> COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> Mayor Thorne reported on his reelection as President of the Alameda County Mayors Conference. <br /> Councilmember Narum reported on the hiring of a new Director of the Alameda County Mosquito <br /> Abatement District. She also reported that the District has already identified several birds carrying West <br /> Nile and reminded everyone to contact the District if they encounter a dead bird. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:34 p.m. The Council extended a <br /> tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
