THE CITY OF
pL£ASANTON.
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
14
July 21, 2015
Economic Development
TITLE: ADOPT RESOLUTION REVISING THE CITY'S ECONOMIC VITALITY
COMMITTEE MEETING SCHEDULE AND APPOINTMENT OF
COMMITTEE MEMBERS
SUMMARY
Membership on the Economic Vitality Committee (EVC) is designed to include
representation from the broad market segments that comprise Pleasanton's business
community to advise the City Council on trends and issues impacting Pleasanton's
commercial climate to sustain a strong and diverse economic base. The current
structure of the EVC includes 22 representatives and a bi- monthly meeting schedule. To
ensure the EVC's ability to provide timely input on business - related issues, the EVC
unanimously recommends to the City Council that the committee schedule be changed
to allow monthly meetings and the resolution that governs the EVC be revised to reflect
this change. Additionally, the existing resolution does not match the current process in
regard to selection of representatives from local organizations; this, too, is
recommended to be amended.
RECOMMENDATION
Rescind Resolution No. 12 -559 and adopt a new resolution revising the meeting
schedule to allow for monthly meetings as needed and amending language regarding
the assignment of members by local organizations.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no fiscal impact.
